Traveling Portable Plant Operator - Steel Mill Support Team

Job Description

The Levy Group of Companies is seeking Traveling Portable Plant Operators to join their Steel Mill Support Team. The primary (home base) location is Crawfordsville, IN, but this position may travel to Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile equipment to feed plant
• Perform pre and post operation inspections of plant and mobile equipment
• Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions
• Replace drive belts, jaw dies, screen decks and maintain gear boxes and pulleys
• Ensure preventive maintenance and repairs are made on plant, secondary structures, related maintenance tools, and safety equipment
• Manage the startup and shut down process for the plant, conveyors, crushers, and related components
• Maintain housekeeping of yard and plant
• Inspect and monitor the plant and secondary structures to ensure safe and proper operation
• Determine proper settings for crusher and feeder
• Monitor the plant to ensure proper operations
• Monitor air emissions and take appropriate corrective action
• Adjust the plant based on production and plant performance data
• Determine timing and controls watering of stockpiles
• Check stockpile to ensure product quality and mixes material to desired consistency
• Travel as needed with the portable plant to other locations (IN, KY, OH, MI)
• Perform other projects as assigned by supervisor

Skills

• Ability to operate heavy mobile equipment and plant
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to identify mechanical malfunctions
• Ability to weld and burn
• Knowledge of plant equipment, conveyor systems, screens, and crushers
• Knowledge of materials and appropriate safety procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

Pay

$40.00 an hour, travel expenses reimbursed

Schedule

12 hour shifts 6:00am-6:00pm
