A Day in the Life
- Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor at construction project sites.
- Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
- Cleans and prepares sites, digs trenches, sets braces, erects scaffolding, and cleans up rubble, debris, and other waste materials.
- Assists other craft workers.
- Maintains a clean job site at all times.
- Handles and stores materials.
- Identifies and ensures that any underground and overhead utilities have been located/exposed prior to excavating.
- Reviews trenching requirements with the Superintendent and ensures any required protection is available.
- Keeps project foreman, superintendent, or general superintendent informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform tasks at construction project sites or adversely affect Company operations.
- Assists with other projects or duties as assigned by management.
What You’ll Need
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with six to twelve months of construction experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and ability to work with equipment, materials, and supplies found in construction work.
- Ability to follow proper use and safety guidelines at all times.
- OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety precautions and procedures.
- Ability to view and understand safety training video.
- Willingness and ability to perform manual work.
- Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, external vendors, and other business associates.
- Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Must have good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements.
Additional Job Description
- The base compensation range for this role is Union Scale. The hourly rate may vary depending on geographic location, applicant skills, and prior relevant experience.
- Benefits offered to Union Craft Workers include 401k, Employee Assistance Program, and Prevailing Wage roles, hourly rate and benefits may vary due to Collective Bargaining Agreements and/or local governing authority.
