About the role
Independence Excavating is looking for an accomplished and ambitious Project Manager to manage all aspects of assigned projects, including budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, contracts, purchase orders, and owner interactions. This position reports to the Senior Project Manager.
From breaking ground to the finished project, our team has been laying the groundwork for excellence in heavy civil construction and demolition for over 70 years. Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and return submittals for items to be manufactured or provided
- Work with Superintendent/Operations Manager to determine equipment and crew needs
- Assemble job cost codes for projects and update them regularly
- Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries for major items
- Review and approve subcontractor/supplier estimates and invoices
- Negotiate, close, and coordinate all Extra Work Orders and CORs for changes in project scope
- Monitor production, resource utilization, and overall job cost versus estimated cost to maintain profit margins
- Prepare monthly job cost and profit projections
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
- At least 5 years’ experience managing large commercial construction projects
- Strong organizational skills to handle a variety of tasks
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with owners, project engineers, and local government offices
- Demonstrated ability to manage people, budget, schedule, and quality of work at multiple construction sites
- Competency in performing complete and accurate project take-offs and estimates
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 100%
