Traveling Equipment Operator
About the Role
United Pipeline Systems, Inc. is seeking Equipment Operators to support nationwide pipeline installation projects. This travel-based role involves transporting, staging, and operating construction and pipeline-related equipment on active job sites across the U.S. Equipment Operators must consistently adhere to company safety policies, DOT regulations as applicable, and project-specific requirements, playing a key role in maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient operations while working away from home. This role works hands-on alongside pipeline installation crews, performing critical equipment-operation tasks that directly support project timelines and successful completion. Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work effectively while traveling are essential for success in this position.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy construction and pipeline-related equipment safely and efficiently
- Perform daily equipment inspections and safety checks
- Conduct routine maintenance and report mechanical issues
- Assist installation crews with hands-on construction tasks
- Complete required job reports and documentation
- Maintain clear communication with crew members and supervisors
- Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety policies at all times
Requirements
- Willingness to travel
- Good standing MVR
- Pre-employment background check and MVR screening
- Pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings
- Must be 21 years of age
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
Preferred Experience
- Minimum 6 months of pipeline, oilfield, or general construction experience
- Minimum 6 months of heavy equipment operation experience
- Prior traveling or international work experience is a plus
Physical Demands
- Sit, talk, and hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, occasionally required to stand, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and taste or smell
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, and color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Ability for extended concentration
- Must be able to enter confined spaces and comply with safety policies
Work Environment and Location
- Home office locations in Durango, CO and Farmington, NM
- In performing the duties for this job, the employee will generally work in outside weather conditions (at job sites with moving vehicles and mechanical operations)
- Employee will travel by Automobile and/or airplane to job site locations and be away from home office for long periods of time to complete required installations
- This is a traveling role where you'll spend extended periods on the road (typically 3-4 months at a time) supporting installation projects
- Average work week consists of 10 hours a day, 6 days a week
- Company-provided lodging while traveling
- $68 daily per diem for meals and incidentals
Pay
$60,000-$100,000 annually, based on experience
