Traveling Construction Field Manager supporting Hunt Companies' construction department. This role oversees and directs construction management for projects, coordinating bidding, inspections, and construction to ensure quality, schedule, and budget adherence. Significant travel is required based on business needs.
Responsibilities
- Plans, monitors, and manages all aspects of multiple large-scale building and site development projects, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Ensures project completion aligns with scope, schedule, and budget.
- Leads progress reporting, contractor management, and troubleshooting.
- Assists with project planning, resourcing, and staffing.
- Monitors contractor performance and recommends adjustments to schedules, costs, or resources.
- Oversees schedules and directs team resources to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, or resources.
- Ensures project results meet quality, reliability, schedule, and cost requirements.
- Provides timely and accurate status updates to project teams, management, and sponsors.
- Promotes and assists in implementing safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Reviews project proposals to understand scope, time frame, funding, procedures, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Builds and sustains relationships with clients and general/sub-contractors through networking.
- Outlines work plans and assigns duties and responsibilities to project staff.
- Assists with contract management from initial conversations through project closeout, serving as the point of contact for contractual matters.
- Leads site leadership to ensure project activities progress on schedule and within budget.
- Prepares, presents, and reviews project reports for management, clients, and stakeholders.
- Resolves project problems, makes recommendations, and escalates issues as needed.
- Assists with the RFP process, including creating and developing bid proposals.
- Manages the RFI, ASI, and IDC processes, including assessment, workflow, and execution.
- Assists with project status reports, budget reports, and other management information.
- Reads, understands, and comments on construction documents and contract specifications.
- Drives a Company vehicle or personal/rental vehicle for business more than 50% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or demonstrated equivalent proficiency.
- Five to seven years of professional experience in construction, development, or engineering with a focus on project management, development processes, and budgeting.
- Experience in planning and construction of large-scale buildings, residential development, and major sitework projects.
- Experience in estimating and preparing change orders.
- 4-6 years of management experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present confidently to management and third parties.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships internally and externally.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to envision, develop, and implement processes to advance business goals.
- Takes initiative to identify and anticipate company needs and make recommendations.
