Description Summary
The Traveling Commodities Team Member supports Van Meter's purpose of being a customer's competitive advantage by efficiently and accurately handling customer orders. This role involves using a forklift, cutting wire, receiving commodities, and preparing products for delivery. The position requires flexibility to travel within the US and includes working at the Central Distribution Center.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
- Pick and prepare customer pipe and wire in an efficient and accurate manner
- Receive and unload commodities from delivery trucks
- Accurately maintain commodities inventory and equipment
- Prepare product for shipment
- Provide customer service and support as the main contact between Van Meter and customers
- Maintain quality expectations and customer requirements
- Adhere to all company safety policies and initiatives
- Assist in maintaining distribution center cleanliness and order
- Cross-train in other departments as needed
- Support team members by participating in team lifts
- Provide coverage in areas of the distribution center where staffing is low and work level is high

Job Requirements/Specifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to travel within the United States to be on assignment for months at a time
- Willingness to obtain a Class A or Class B CDL if deemed necessary
- Ability to meet and maintain qualifications as required by the DOT
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to lift 100 lbs on a consistent basis
- Ability to operate lift truck equipment
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to work an extended shift to complete work tasks as needed
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Knowledge of Eclipse preferred
- Knowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus
- Deployment to jobsites throughout the United States for extended periods of time
- Minimum 3 year commitment required
