Physical and Environmental Factors
- Ability to work outdoors and in all types of outdoor weather
- Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry, and lift as needed
- Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing skilled movement
- 100% field role
- Ability to be available for emergency outages
- Ability to travel away from home when needed
Responsibilities
- Plan and initiate projects
- Interact with customers, utility owners, and governmental officials
- Establish and conform to OSHA and customer safety requirements
- Assist in the construction of new aerial and underground services and service upgrades
- Train and mentor Aerial Groundmen
- Perform tree trimming or route clearing
- Use and care for specialized hand tools and required equipment
- Operate heavy equipment such as Digger and Bucket Truck
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License; Class A CDL preferred
- Ability to pass pre-employment screenings
- Demonstrated field experience working with aerial crews
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, pole-line materials, proper and safe use of tools and equipment used in line construction and maintenance
- Familiarity with aerial safety codes and practices, and work methods associated with aerial line work
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to maintain required equipment and tools
- Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Adherence to all company and manufacturer safety procedures and industry safety standards, including attendance at mandatory safety meetings
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of two years’ experience as an Aerial Groundman, preferred
- Thorough understanding of aerial utility installation, safety regulations, and work methods associated with aerial line work
