Physical and Environmental Factors

  • Ability to work outdoors and in all types of outdoor weather
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry, and lift as needed
  • Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs in performing skilled movement
  • 100% field role
  • Ability to be available for emergency outages
  • Ability to travel away from home when needed

Responsibilities

  • Plan and initiate projects
  • Interact with customers, utility owners, and governmental officials
  • Establish and conform to OSHA and customer safety requirements
  • Assist in the construction of new aerial and underground services and service upgrades
  • Train and mentor Aerial Groundmen
  • Perform tree trimming or route clearing
  • Use and care for specialized hand tools and required equipment
  • Operate heavy equipment such as Digger and Bucket Truck

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License; Class A CDL preferred
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings
  • Demonstrated field experience working with aerial crews
  • Thorough knowledge of electricity, pole-line materials, proper and safe use of tools and equipment used in line construction and maintenance
  • Familiarity with aerial safety codes and practices, and work methods associated with aerial line work
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to maintain required equipment and tools
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Adherence to all company and manufacturer safety procedures and industry safety standards, including attendance at mandatory safety meetings

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of two years’ experience as an Aerial Groundman, preferred
  • Thorough understanding of aerial utility installation, safety regulations, and work methods associated with aerial line work
