Responsibilities
- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care.
- Appropriately assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Circulates during C-sections, attends deliveries assisting the physician as needed.
- Follows appropriate policies during the recovery and care of surgical patients.
- Attends the neonatal station in the C-section suite and completely assesses the neonate post-delivery.
- Attends fetal monitoring certification classes every two years.
- Attends S.T.A.B.L.E. certification class if offered and is NRP certified.
- Able to identify necessary information to be communicated to physicians and patients.
- May be required to float to another unit depending on facility census (helping hands or sitter role).
Requirements
- ACLS, BLS, NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E., and AWHONN certifications (must be through the American Heart Association).
- WY RN or RN compact license.
- 2 years recent RN experience in Level 1 Nursery, Postpartum, OB/GYN, and L&D/LDRP.
- Experience with OB/GYN patients (post-op hysterectomy), Antepartum care, Triage care, Labor and Delivery care, and Postpartum.
