Travel Tele RN - $1,965 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Brick, New Jersey. The position is for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN with a travel employment type, lasting 11 weeks at 36 hours per week on 12‑hour day shifts. As a PCU Travel Nurse you will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but are not unstable enough for ICU care, utilizing computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information, detecting changes to enable intervention, observing patients receiving complex medications, and performing step‑down nursing duties. The PCU RN is also known as a step‑down nurse and may be referred to as cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown, or ER holding.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
• Stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty.
• Easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require lifting up to 50 pounds at times.
• Possess good stress‑coping skills and be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Requirements

• BLS certification

• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
