The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the orthopedic unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality medical services. This position requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care and teamwork. Unit Information Number of Beds: 38 Staffing: Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 6-7 RNs, 1 LPN, 3 PCTs, 1 Unit Secretary Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 1 LPN, 2-3 PCTs, HUC for part of the shift Patient Ratios: 6:1 during the day, with a goal for charge nurses to assist in staffing; 7:1 during the night. Equipment Used: Baxter IV pumps, wound vacs, SCDs, and other essential medical tools. EMR System: Cerner PowerChart Qualifications Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years in medical/surgical nursing, with experience in telemetry. Preferred Skills: Charge nurse experience is a plus. Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Job Responsibilities Administer medications and treatments to patients as prescribed. Monitor and assess patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes. Perform peripheral IV starts, dressing changes, and other standard medical-surgical procedures. Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding care plans and health management. Work Environment This position is located on the orthopedic unit, which emphasizes teamwork and collaboration. Staff are expected to maintain a positive attitude and assist colleagues as needed. Dress Code The required attire includes scrubs in navy or white, with navy or white undershirts allowed as needed. Scheduling Requirements Weekend work: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule. Travelers will float to other medical-surgical units as needed, prior to permanent staff.
