About the role

We’re seeking a travel nurse RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This is a 13-week travel position with 48 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
  • Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
  • Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders.
  • Assist physicians in patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures/treatments.
  • Obtain and monitor physiological data, observe patient manifestations, and intervene as necessary.
  • Administer medication as prescribed.
  • Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
  • Deliver competent patient care and interact with families to share care plans.
  • Inform patients and families of hospital procedures and make referrals for patient care needs.
  • Delegate tasks to support staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (required upon hire).
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) certification required if caring for Step Down patients.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).

Skills

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience in neurology and NIHSS (preferred).
