About the role
We’re seeking a travel nurse RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) assignment in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This is a 13-week travel position with 48 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders.
- Assist physicians in patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures/treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data, observe patient manifestations, and intervene as necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed.
- Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver competent patient care and interact with families to share care plans.
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures and make referrals for patient care needs.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (required upon hire).
- ACLS (American Heart Association) certification required if caring for Step Down patients.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
Skills
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience in neurology and NIHSS (preferred).
