About the role

The Speech-Language Pathologist provides quality speech and/or language therapy services to a predominantly Native American population for the rehabilitation of patients with various developmental, cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. This role involves planning and administering medically based speech therapy for inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and interpret evaluations and test results for patients ranging in age from birth through geriatric, and document findings in the electronic health record.
  • Determine speech therapy treatment plans by physician referral or consultation, setting realistic treatment goals based on patient’s abilities, needs, and evaluation findings.
  • Recommend and implement adjustments and modifications to therapy plans based on patient progress.
  • Document results of patient assessment, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services in patient records.
  • Select and construct therapies according to patient goals and needs.
  • Instruct patients, families, and staff in appropriate speech-language procedures or home programs to support therapeutic goals.
  • Provide specialty services, including but not limited to:
    • Swallowing evaluation (VFSS/MBS, FEES).
    • Cognitive and voice treatment.
    • Pediatric speech/language therapy and feeding evaluation.
    • Geriatric clinic and Assistive Technology/adaptive equipment evaluation/treatment.
  • Assist in the direction and development of the speech therapy service, including quality improvement, risk management, and safety.
  • Comply with federal, state, and ASHA certification requirements, as well as TCRHCC policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and in-services for student and staff education.
  • Consult with the Physical Rehabilitation team and other healthcare workers (e.g., physicians, nurses, social workers).
  • Maintain TCRHCC Medical Staff Credentialing Core Privileges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a school accredited by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA.
  • Valid, current, full, and unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license from the Arizona Department of Health or any U.S. state, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
  • Must meet requirements for credentialing to serve on the Medical Staff.
  • 2 years of experience as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week.
  • 9-hour shifts, days.
  • Employment Type: Travel.
