Responsibilities
- Aids in the direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of supportive staff, volunteers, and students.
- Interprets and carries out the prescription of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
- Writes verbal orders from physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in accordance with practice act guidelines.
- Maintains active and supportive communication with patients regarding their progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to the therapeutic process.
- Performs evaluations focusing on receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation, and auditory skills.
- Conducts phonetic analyses of speech ability and documents test results.
- Recommends remedial treatment based on evaluations and therapeutic techniques.
- Confers with associates to institute treatment using corrective exercises and special equipment.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Speech Language Pathology.
- New graduates are accepted for this position, although experience is preferred.
- Candidates must be eligible for state licensure and present their license prior to employment.
- American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) card required.
