Job Description
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a travel Speech Language Pathologist for a 13-week assignment in Marshalltown, Iowa. The position offers 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, and starts immediately.
Requirements
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
- Master’s degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology
- Speech Language Pathology experience, but new graduates are welcome
Essential Work Functions
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings and evidence-based practices
- Audit patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain detailed, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
- Provide education on effective communication strategies, home-based exercises, and safe swallowing practices, while offering supportive counseling as required
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards while addressing patients' comfort needs during therapy sessions
- Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices in speech language therapy
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice
Required Essential Skills
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- The ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- The ability to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
- The ability to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- The ability to perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
- The ability to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
- The ability to see and hear effectively
