Travel SICU RN - $1,750 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) position in Houston, Texas. The assignment starts October 5, 2026, lasts 13 weeks, with 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests.
• Take samples for lab work, order corresponding lab work and interpret reports.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Ensure proper placement and functioning of catheters, leads and tubing.
• Communicate patients' conditions to family members.
• Stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean and stoop without difficulty.
• Lift up to 20 pounds routinely; moving or lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
• Work safely around chemicals, infectious diseases, and confused, agitated, or uncooperative patients.

Requirements

• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications.
• Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience (1‑2 years preferred).
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
