About the role
Focus Staff is seeking a traveling Respiratory Therapist to provide quality patient care during the COVID‑19 crisis. As a member of the Respiratory Team, you will develop and ensure the patient plan of care in collaboration with physicians, registered nurses, and other therapists. This is a travel contract assignment in Charlottesville, VA.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating patients and recommending a treatment plan
- Providing respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions
- Performing insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes
- Performing timely and accurate documentation
- Promoting continuous quality improvement
- Teaching and counseling patients and families
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Current CPR or BCLS certification
- BCLS, ACLS, PALS, NALS, or NRP preferred
- Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, and families
- At least 2 years of work experience

Pay
Pay depends on location and experience; a very competitive package is offered. The pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
Schedule
36 hours per week, 12‑hour night shifts (3x12 nights). Contract duration: 26 weeks (also noted as a 13‑week temporary assignment). Start date: 11/09/2026.
