About the role

Registered Nurse – Perioperative Nurse - Operating Room - Travel - (OR RN) at Adventist Health Twin Cities in Templeton, California. 13-week travel assignment starting 8/31/2026, 40 hours per week, 10-hour day shifts.

Schedule

  • 4 x 10s, Monday - Friday, 0630 to 1700 or 0830 to 1900
  • 1 - 2 nights a week with call and 1 weekend a month

Responsibilities

  • Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients
  • Coordinate, manage, provide and delegate patient care
  • Meet the established Standards of Nursing Practice and promote cooperation among the health care team
  • Assist under the direction of the primary operating surgeon in the perioperative care of patients undergoing a surgical experience
  • Function within the policies and guidelines established by the facility and report directly to Director of Perioperative Services
  • Exemplify leadership and professionalism in the implementation of the RNFA role
  • Assure patients' personal needs are met
  • Assist in reducing noise level of nursing unit
  • Participate in the Standards of Conduct
  • Show commitment to co-workers and work as a team to assure all patients have their needs met
  • Maintain patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy
  • Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and legible
  • Deliver clear, concise reports
  • Complete all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager
  • Follow infection control guidelines
  • Obtain history/physical assessment according to unit specific nursing protocol for all age groups
  • Review medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data
  • Identify abnormal diagnostic data and report to appropriate person
  • Provide information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner to appropriate personnel
  • Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations
  • Accurately administer and chart medications according to hospital policies and procedures using patient's 6 rights
  • Implement and/or assist others in implementation and documentation of planned education
  • Assess patient's educational needs
  • Demonstrate intraoperative competency as an RNFA: manual dexterity, suturing and ligating, providing hemostasis, exposing the surgical site, positioning, prepping and draping
  • Assist in the development and education of new staff members
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings
  • Complete education, training, and competencies for department specific skills
  • Successfully adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and work flow
  • Assure all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly
  • Utilize department resources appropriately
  • Minimize incidental overtime
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience required
  • OR circulating experience required
  • EPIC experience required
  • Graduate of a school of nursing: Required
  • Certification of completion of an approved didactic RNFA course: Required
  • Three years scrub and circulate experience in an acute care facility: Required
  • Annual surgeon review: Required
  • Current RN license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required
  • Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR): Required
  • Current Professional Liability insurance: Required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required
  • Professional Liability Insurance (PLI): Required
  • RN-CA (Copy needed): Required
  • ACLS (Copy needed): Required
  • BLS (Copy needed): Required
  • 1 Reference in the last 12 months OR SCL and Reference within a year: Required
  • RTO Upon Submission: Required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification
