About the role
We’re hiring an experienced Step Down / PCU / Telemetry RN for an immediate 13-week travel contract in Millersburg, Ohio.
Schedule
- Night Shift
- 3x12s | 36 hours/week
- Block scheduling available
- No on-call requirements
- Weekends and holidays included
- Potential for weekends-only scheduling for the right candidate
Patient Ratios
- Med Surg: approximately 1:4–6
- SCU: maximum 1:4, typically 1:2–3
Requirements
- Recent Step Down / PCU / Telemetry experience
- ICU experience is a plus
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Comfortable working nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality step-down/PCU nursing care during 3x12 night shifts
- Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, labs, and clinical status
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders accurately
- Prioritize patient safety and enforce infection control protocols
- Escalate complex or deteriorating patient conditions promptly per protocol
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team for care plans
- Document care encounters clearly in electronic medical records
- Participate in unit performance metrics and quality improvement initiatives
- Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and post-discharge needs
- Demonstrate adaptability to evolving care standards and evidence-based practices
- Maintain medication and supply inventories; assist with unit staffing readiness
Experience/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio and current BLS certification
- Endorsed by Step-Down/PCU experience with 3x12 night shift familiarity
- Proficiency in critical care monitoring and interpretation of vitals and labs
- Ability to administer medications accurately per orders and safety protocols
- Strong patient safety focus with strict infection control adherence
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) documentation and care coordination
- Ability to escalate deteriorating conditions per hospital protocol and care plans
- Collaborative teamwork with physicians and interdisciplinary staff
- Participation in unit performance metrics and quality improvement initiatives
- Experience in inventory management and unit staffing readiness
