Travel RN Step Down - $2,333 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Warwick, Rhode Island. The role is for a Stepdown RN specializing in progressive care, with an 8‑week travel assignment requiring 36 hours per week on 12‑hour day shifts. The PCU (also referred to as cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown, or ER holding) cares for patients who need close monitoring and frequent assessment but are not unstable enough for ICU care.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
• Stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty.
• Easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require lifting up to 50 pounds at times.
• Possess good skills for coping with stress and be able to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Requirements

• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• 5 years of relevant experience (as indicated in the requirements).
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.

Schedule

Assignment duration: 8 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12‑hour day shifts. Employment type: travel.
