Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to long-term care residents including medication administration, wound care, catheter care, and monitoring of chronic conditions
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and document changes in resident conditions, reporting significant findings to physicians and day shift staff
- Respond to medical emergencies, falls, and acute changes in resident status with appropriate interventions
- Administer medications according to physician orders and facility protocols, including PRN medications and pain management
- Perform skilled nursing procedures such as tube feedings, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management as needed
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and complete required documentation per regulatory standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, and social workers
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations including CMS guidelines and facility policies
- Provide emotional support and advocacy for residents and their families
- Participate in care plan meetings and quality assurance activities
- Mentor and provide guidance to nursing staff and new employees
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in state of practice
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (long-term care or geriatric experience preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Computer proficiency with electronic health records
Preferred Qualifications
- Long-term care or skilled nursing facility experience
- Travel nursing experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during 12-hour shifts
- Lift up to 50 pounds with proper body mechanics
- Visual acuity to assess residents and read documentation
