RN Job Breakdown (Weekly Hours Estimate)

• Total Weekly Hours: 36–40 hours

Direct Patient Care (Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation)

• Absorbing patient health status and collecting data
• Planning and implementing nursing care
• Evaluating outcomes of care
• Providing direct bedside nursing interventions
• Ongoing monitoring of patient condition

Documentation & Charting

• Completing EHR documentation
• Updating care plans
• Charting per hospital and regulatory guidelines
• Reporting patient status changes

Medication Administration & Treatment Support

• Administering medications and IV therapies
• Performing ordered treatments
• Supporting restorative and life-sustaining interventions
• Monitoring response to treatment

Patient Education & Counseling

• Health teaching and discharge education
• Counseling patients and families
• Explaining treatment plans and medications

Collaboration, Delegation & Communication

• Coordinating with physicians and care teams
• Delegating tasks to support staff
• Consulting and reporting patient updates
• Referring patients for further evaluation

Floating, On-Call & Unit Support (if required)

• Floating to other departments within competency
• On-call responsibilities during scheduled shifts
• Supporting staffing needs based on hospital demand

Compliance, Professional Practice & Other Duties

• Following Board of Nursing standards
• Supporting hospital mission, vision, and service behavior standards
• Participating in quality/safety practices
• Other assigned duties
