Travel RN Float - $2,186 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Float Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Albany, New York. The assignment lasts 13 weeks with 36 hours per week on 12‑hour day shifts. Employment type is travel. The ideal candidate should have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aid the physician during examination and treatment of the patient.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician.
• Stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean and stoop without difficulty.
• Lift up to 20 pounds routinely; moving or lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
• Work in a fast‑paced environment treating patients who may be confused, agitated, and/or uncooperative.

Requirements

• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience (1‑2 years preferred)
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning the assignment.
