Travel Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Neuro Diagnostics - $1,930 per week

About the role

American Traveler is seeking a travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift position at a high-volume Level I Trauma Center serving adult and geriatric populations.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care teaching hospital setting — a 703-bed facility and the region's only Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric)
• Serve adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients across a high-volume ER, Neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU
• Implement Robust Assess and Treat protocols, including ventilator management and liberation policy
• Use equipment such as Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNO with the iNOvent, and LTV1200
• Operate Epic EMR system
• Work 3x12-hour shifts (7p–7a), 4x12 schedule available upon request
• Work every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Floating within skillset is required
• Work one holiday per 13-week contract
• 13-week contract; extensions up to 26 weeks available upon request

Requirements

• RRT credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; CRT not accepted
• Va Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner required; other state licenses accepted with the requirement to obtain a 90-day temporary authorization while the Va permanent license is processed
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Critical care experience in a high-volume ER and/or Level I Trauma Center required, including Neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU
• Proficiency in aerosol and medication delivery systems (mask, trach, MDI, Medihaler) and administration of Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, bicarbonate, and lidocaine
• Competency in ABG interpretation and ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Airway management skills including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care
• Proficiency in oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups (handheld, T-piece, trach collar, ultrasonic)
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• Two professional references required for consideration

Benefits

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
