Description
Acute care hospital setting with a Respiratory Therapy unit serving adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient populations.
Adult therapists cover pediatric through adult patients; NICU RTs operate under a separate nursing manager.
- Common diagnoses include COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, and cancer.
- ICU therapists manage up to 4 airways per shift (vents, heated aerosol trach off vent, etc.); floor therapists average 550 minutes of treatment time per shift (~13–15 patients).
- Servo vents (U and I models) are used on unit.
- MEDITECH EMR.
Responsibilities
- Nebulizer treatments
- Airway management
- Vapotherm, BiPAP, CPAP, mechanical ventilation
- ABG collection
- Bronchoscopies
- A-line placement in the ICU
Requirements
- RRT credential required
- Active GA state RT license required if applicable
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS; NRP required if assigned to NICU
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience
- Experience in a hospital with 300+ beds required
- Completion of at least one prior travel contract required
- Proficient in intubation and comfortable as first responder for intubating patients during codes
- Experienced with high-volume, high-acuity workloads
- Able to manage adult ICU patients and work with ventilators
Additional Information
Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position.
Driver's license required for consideration.
Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
