Requirements
- Active RRT credential required
- BLS certification required
- Valid Missouri Respiratory Care Practitioner License required at time of consideration; pending Illinois license accepted for IL-based candidates (please note if applicable)
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Experience managing mechanically ventilated patients required
- Experience with airway management including endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, tracheostomy/suctioning, oral and nasal airway management, and sputum specimen collection
- Experience administering inhaled medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, and Xopenex
- Experience with medication delivery systems including aerosol mask and trach setups and metered dose inhalers
- Experience with handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic nebulizers
- Experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy
- Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator weaning, and troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
- ABG interpretation experience required
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidate may occasionally be asked to precept respiratory therapy students at this teaching facility
- Moderate to dark gray scrubs are required
- Active AARC membership and a bachelor's degree (or active pursuit thereof) in any field are strongly preferred
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of BJC facilities must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may work for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required before returning
- Allied travelers may work for up to 12 months, after which a 6-month break is required before returning
- Parking passes are available for purchase through the facility's Public Safety department; costs and availability vary by lot
