Travel Respiratory Therapist - $2,218 per week
Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of ER, ICU, and inpatient adult experience for a 13-week night shift travel contract at an acute care hospital in Princeton, WV.
Acute care hospital setting with 127 total inpatient beds
Respiratory Therapy unit covering all inpatient areas, the ED, inpatient and outpatient EKGs, and outpatient bronchoscopies in a procedural setting
Primary patient population is adult; position also serves a pediatric inpatient unit and a family birthing unit (no C-sections)
Therapists may be called to initiate CPAP on infants
ICU can have up to 8–9 ventilated patients at a time; therapists may manage 40–70 treatments per shift
Department typically staffs 7 RTs during the day and 5 RTs at night
Night shift hours: 1845–0715 (12-hour shifts); set schedules made 4 weeks in advance
Every other weekend required; weekend-only schedules also considered
Holiday coverage required if the holiday falls on a scheduled workday (Christmas and New Year's only)
No on-call or standby call requirements
Floating within the facility only
EMR: Expanse – hCare (experience preferred)
Equipment includes: Puritan Bennett 840, Hamilton C1, Avea, BiPAP V60, and Vapotherm for high flow
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience in ER, ICU, and inpatient adult settings
Pediatric experience preferred; facility is willing to train
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), CRT via NBRC, NRP, PALS, and STABLERRT (via NBRC) preferred but not required
Active state license required if applicable
Valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration
Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible
Any licensing restrictions or hits must be disclosed
Additional Information
Responsibilities include breathing treatments, ventilator management, ABG draws and analysis, EKG performance for inpatient and outpatient areas, and assisting with intubation (not required to intubate independently)
Core RTs may place arterial lines; travelers are not required to perform this skill
Travelers will not be required to cover the Sleep Lab, Pulmonary Rehab, or Cardiac Rehab
Travelers will not be required to perform critical care transports outside of the facility
An on-site skills assessment will be conducted to facilitate appropriate assignments
A lead therapist or supervisor is always available for support and questions
Open ICU model with 2 on-staff pulmonologists and hospitalists in house 24/7
Orientation consists of a general orientation day, classroom orientation and modules on day two, followed by approximately 3 days of shadowing with a preceptor; travelers begin on inpatient units and expand from there
Professional scrubs of any color required; professional appearance expected — no long nails, and men must be clean-shaven
