Travel Respiratory Therapist - $1,821 per week

About the role

American Traveler is seeking a travel Respiratory Therapist for a 13‑week assignment at a critical access hospital in Carthage, Tennessee. The facility has 25 beds and the Respiratory Therapy department serves patients of all ages. The traveler will serve as the sole RT on shift, working independently with strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. The assignment starts November 2, 2026.

• Setting: Critical access hospital, 25 beds
• Shift: Days, 3 × 12‑hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), 36 hours/week
• Weekend/Call: Every other weekend required; as‑needed call and floating
• Equipment: BiPAP/CPAP, ventilators, Vapotherm
• EMR: Meditech
• Orientation: Weekly orientation held on Mondays
• Distance rule: Candidates must live 60 miles or more from the facility
• Employment restrictions: Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months; cannot be employed elsewhere full time
• Dress code: Scrubs of any color accepted; casual wear not permitted

Responsibilities

• Function as the only respiratory therapist on shift in a critical access hospital
• Provide respiratory care to patients of all ages
• Manage BiPAP/CPAP, ventilators, and Vapotherm therapy
• Document patient care in Meditech EMR
• Cover every other weekend and respond to as‑needed call and floating assignments
• Exercise independent clinical judgment and critical thinking

Requirements

• Current RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) certification
• ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a respiratory therapist
• Experience in ER and critical care settings
• Ability to work independently as the sole RT on shift
• Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
• Tennessee Abuse Registry check required prior to start
• Appropriate Tennessee license (if applicable)
