The Travel Respiratory Care Practitioner provides respiratory care across multiple settings, supports patient care planning, and collaborates with care teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and life-support respiratory care procedures for patients across the continuum of care, including acute, critical care, and home care settings as applicable.
- Affirms assessments, plans, implements, and evaluates respiratory care services to support optimal patient outcomes for assigned patient populations.
- Collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care.
- Administers respiratory treatments and medications in accordance with physician orders, clinical protocols, and department standards.
- Provides patient and family education related to respiratory conditions, treatments, equipment, and self-management strategies.
- Demonstrates clinical expertise in rapidly changing patient situations and responds appropriately to emergent respiratory care needs.
- Participates in quality improvement, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and operational effectiveness.
- Functions as a clinical resource and role model for respiratory care staff, students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Supports departmental operations through effective resource management, prioritization of patient care activities, and problem resolution.
- Assists with orientation, training, competency development, and ongoing education of staff and students.
- Participates in departmental, hospital, and organizational committees, projects, and initiatives to support professional practice and continuous improvement.
- Maintains required competencies and pursues ongoing professional development to support evidence-based respiratory care practice.
What We Require
- Education: Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy from a CoARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) accredited program required.
- Licensure/Certification: Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) by the Virginia Board of Medicine required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
- Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
