About the role
TotalMed is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel nursing opening in Nashville, TN at a Rehabilitation Hospital. This is a 13-week night shift position working 36 hours per week (12-hour shifts). The ideal candidate has at least one year of experience in a rehabilitation setting.
Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Provide direct care to patients with neurological, orthopedic, or other rehabilitation needs, including stroke recovery, spinal cord injuries, joint replacements, or brain injuries.
- Care Planning: Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other rehab team members to develop and implement personalized care plans that support patient recovery goals.
- Monitoring & Assessment: Regularly assess patients' physical and mental condition, monitor vital signs, neurological function, and progress in therapy; adjust care plans as necessary based on patient response.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed, monitor for side effects, ensure proper dosage and timely delivery, and assist with pain management strategies to promote patient comfort.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families about recovery goals, rehabilitation techniques, safety precautions, and strategies to promote independence in daily activities.
- Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies, including sudden changes in condition, respiratory distress, or cardiac issues, and act quickly to stabilize patients when needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, and progress toward rehabilitation goals in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Discharge Planning: Assist with discharge planning, ensuring patients and families are prepared for post-discharge care, including home modifications, continued therapies, and follow-up appointments.
- Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, case managers, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care tailored to each patient's needs.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as an RN in a rehabilitation setting.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Must be eligible for state licensure.
- Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

- Ability to stand or walk for long periods; must be able to bend, stoop, and lift with proper body mechanics.
