Job Summary

Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) position located in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing respiratory therapy services across various patient care areas of the hospital, including emergency and general care units. The position requires clinical expertise in pediatric and neonatal intensive care settings, with a focus on critical care and ventilator management, supporting all age groups.

Job Details

  • Position: Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS)
  • Location: Wausau, WI
  • Shift: Nights, 12-hour hours from 1830 to 0700, Guaranteed 36 hours per week
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks, start date 07/27/2026
  • Schedule: Night shift hours are 1830-0700; Traveler is guaranteed set hours per week, except during holidays when the unit is closed. GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation; travelers can be placed on call, which will count toward unbillable low census hours. Call back minimum is 2 hours.
  • Float: Support may be required to float to other central hospital locations with advance notice.

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • Advanced NRP
  • NBRC RRT or CRT (CRT must be obtained within one year)
  • Active Wisconsin license
  • AHA or ARC certifications

Education & Experience

  • Education: Associate Degree or Certificate
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience, including pediatric and neonatal intensive care (NICU) experience required; previous travel experience required.

Equipment & Charting

  • V60 BIPAP
  • Hamilton G5 and C1
  • ISTAT
  • Documentation in EPIC

Unit-Specific Skills

  • Provide emergency services for Rapid Response and CodeBlue
  • Basic respiratory care
  • Critical care
  • Ventilator management
  • Patient assessment with assess and treat protocols
  • Care for all age groups

Dress Code

  • Closed-toed shoes
  • Scrubs in any color
  • No smoking or scent
  • Piercings per dress code policy

Additional Notes

  • Participants must adhere to substance policies
  • Flu and COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory or must wear a mask at all times during flu season.
