Job Summary

We are seeking a travel Radiology Technologist for a 13-week assignment in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The position involves performing a variety of diagnostic procedures with technical expertise and competency, ensuring optimal imaging and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Radiology Manager and Diagnostic Team Leader, perform diagnostic procedures with technical expertise and competency.
  • Understand and manage daily operations of radiographic equipment and departmental flow to achieve optimal imaging and patient care.
  • Perform and assist in various general diagnostic procedures that produce optimal imaging with diagnostic quality.
  • Follow standards for routine diagnostic exams, positioning, patient care, and documentation as prescribed in the procedure manual.
  • Provide optimal diagnostic imaging and radiation safety for the purpose of diagnostic interpretation.
  • Select appropriate technical factors, safety devices, and operate all imaging equipment as directed.
  • Orient and train Radiology students and new employees.
  • Identify, process, transfer, and archive all patient exams.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with hospital and regulatory policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of the Radiology Information System and other hospital computer systems.
  • Adhere to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and regulations regarding patient and operator protection.
  • Ensure dosimeter badge is worn while working in the imaging department.
  • Document and record DAP (Dose Area Product).
  • Provide radiation protection in accordance with safety standards and the principle of ALARA.
  • Conduct oneself professionally.
  • Refer unresolved problems to the Diagnostic Team Leader.
  • Participate in the formal in-service program governed by the Radiology Department.
  • Subject to covering call for holidays.
  • Complete all hospital and Radiology Department mandatory education as required annually.
  • Complete training and in-services presentations required for the Diagnostic Department.
  • Obtain 12 CE credits/year for ARRT Compliance, and 6 CE Credits of which are offered through CHOP Radiology Initiatives.
  • Promote Family Centered Care Philosophy.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of all forms of diagnostic imaging.
  • Intermediate knowledge of specific/cross-trained area.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Radiology Information System.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good phone etiquette and communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Pediatric experience.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical diploma from a radiology program.
  • Complete all hospital and Radiology Department mandatory education as required annually.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Radiology Technologist (RT) from the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) issued through an organization requiring hands-on instructor-led psychomotor skills verification (e.g., American Heart Association or Red Cross).
  • Obtain 12 CE credits/year for ARRT Compliance, and 6 CE Credits of which are offered through CHOP Radiology Initiatives.
