About the role

This position is for a Cath Lab Technologist in an acute-care hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. The facility has 304 staffed beds and runs 4 to 5 labs per day with a daily caseload of approximately 20 cases. The role requires working 4x10-hour day shifts (0700-1730), though hours may extend until procedures are complete.

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week, 10-hour day shifts (0700-1730)
  • On-call requirements: one weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) per month, plus one call shift and one evening shift per week (subject to change based on staffing needs)
  • Holidays as needed
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called-off hours can be broken down to add up to 1 shift

Responsibilities

  • Scrub and monitor in coronary diagnostic and interventional procedures
  • Proficient in cardiac stent placement, diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, embolization, Impella insertion, IVC filter placement, PCI, PTCA, rotablator atherectomy, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, and other cath lab procedures
  • Operate and document using Fuji Vidistar and MAC Lab systems
  • Participate in emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November, peak activity in August–September)

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Cath Lab experience
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
  • ARRT or RCIS certification (registered or in process)
  • South Carolina license (SCRQSA) – must be active or in process at time of submission
  • Radiation badge (must be provided by agency; facility does not supply badges for travelers)
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Open to accommodating block schedules with manager approval, dependent on unit needs

  • 60-mile radius rule; locals accepted on a case-by-case basis at 10% lower bill rate
  • Non-local candidates prioritized
  • Previous MUSC staff (including PRN) must be separated for 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • All RTO (requested time off) must be disclosed at submission; approval based on facility needs
  • SSN required for submission
  • Labs must be completed within 72 hours of signing if within 90 days of start, or at least 2 weeks prior to hard document due date
  • Modules: Non-billable, average 4 hours, completed pre-start
