Department Information
- Average patient volume: 350–400 per day
- X-ray suites:
- OR: 40 operating rooms with 12 C-arms and 2 O-arms available
- Main Level (4th floor): 2 x-ray rooms, 3 fluoroscopy rooms
- ED: 2 rooms
- 15 portable units
- Minimum 2 years of acute-care experience required; trauma-level experience (Level I, II, or III) preferred
- First-time travelers accepted if they have trauma-facility experience
Patient Types & Common Diagnoses
- Adults and pediatrics (including neonates) from ED, ICUs, nursing units, and outpatient settings
- Full spectrum of radiology exams and diagnoses
- High-acuity patients due to teaching-facility status
- Shift-by-shift rotation among ED, OR, and Main radiology areas
Responsibilities
- Perform general X-ray imaging of head, neck, spine, extremities, abdomen, hands, feet, and chest
- Trauma imaging and portable bedside exams
- OR imaging for spinal, orthopedic, general surgery, neuro, and pediatric cases
- Operate C-arm (required) and O-arm (preferred)
- Precept x-ray students based on experience
Requirements
- BLS certification
- ARRT-R certification
- EPIC EMR experience
- Confidence in fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environments
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Support Available
- Lead Tech and 24/7 supervisor
- Manager and collaboration with MD residents/fellows
- On-site staffing levels:
- Days: 22 Rad Techs
- Mids: 11 Rad Techs
- Nights: 6 Rad Techs
- Weekend Days: 12 Rad Techs
- Weekend Nights: 6 Rad Techs
- 24/7 RT, Rapid Response/Code Team, and on-site radiologists
- Department transporter available
Technology & Equipment
- EMR: EPIC (required)
- Department equipment:
- Shimadzu RadSpeed general radiography rooms
- Konica and Shimadzu portable units
- Philips C-arm
- O-arm
Schedule
- Duration: 25 weeks
- 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts
- Night shift: Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM–7:30 AM
- No weekend rotation; travelers stay on contracted days/shifts
- No call requirement
- Holidays worked if they fall on a scheduled day
- Manager approval required for time off
- Orientation: up to 5 days, flexible based on traveler needs
