Travel Radiology Technologist position in Portland, Oregon.

About the role

This is a 13-week travel assignment for a Bone Density Technologist (DEXA). The role is full-time, with 40 hours per week on a 10-hour day shift. This position does not require on-call, weekends, or block schedules, and the expected patient ratio is 1:1.

Bone density exam experience is a strict requirement and must be current and proficient. Candidates must hold an active ARRT, RT (R) through OBMI, and BLS certification. A separate DEXA license is not required, and the role does not involve performing X-rays.

Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities nearby the contracted facility. Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment or forfeiture of guaranteed hours.

A vehicle is required for this assignment. Communication devices (e.g., cell phone, pager) needed for the role will be provided by the client at no cost, or the client will reimburse up to $50 monthly for work-related cell phone use.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bone density exams (DEXA) with current and proficient experience.
  • Adhere to radiation safety and infection prevention protocols, including isolation precautions and PPE usage.
  • Operate GE equipment for adult outpatient procedures.
  • Chart patient information using Epic.
  • Complete non-billable modules (average 16 hours) pre-start and annually.

Requirements

  • Active ARRT, RT (R) certification through OBMI.
  • BLS certification.
  • ARRT - Bone Densitometry certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Radiology Technologist.
  • Current and proficient bone density (DEXA) exam experience (strict requirement).
  • Experience with Epic charting system (preferred).
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day).
  • Two professional references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years.
  • Must disclose any prior employment at Providence facilities (permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem), including location and dates worked.
  • No prior travel experience required.

  • Type: Short Term Acute Care.
  • Total Staffed Beds: 418.
  • Scrub Color: Any color for most units; OR/L&D scrubs provided; Micro Bio Tech and MLT may wear business-appropriate street clothes (lab coat provided).
  • Charting System: Epic.
  • Parking Cost: No fee.
  • Daily Census: 32 patients.
  • Number of Visits Per Day: 32.
  • Number of Rooms: 2.
  • Patient Age Groups: Adults and geriatrics.

COVID-19 vaccine not required; flu vaccine status unknown.

Schedule

  • Start Date: 08/10/2026.
  • Duration: 13 weeks.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, 10-hour day shifts.
  • Orientation Hours: 80.
  • Pre-Approved Time Off (RTO): Up to 6 days total or 3 consecutive days auto-approved. Requests beyond this may delay the offer and require client approval. All RTO requests must be submitted up-front during submittal.
