American Traveler is seeking a travel Physical Therapist for an assignment in Abbeville, South Carolina.

About the role

This is a 13-week travel assignment in an Inpatient Rehab unit within an acute care hospital setting. The role requires 2+ years of experience and current state PT licensure.

  • Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • 40 hours per week
  • Patient population includes orthopedic, spinal, and neurologic conditions such as post-op joint replacements, spinal surgery recovery, stroke rehabilitation, and traumatic brain injury
  • Uses Epic for charting and documentation
  • Candidates may float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
  • Candidates should expect to work some holidays during the assignment
  • First-time travelers and local candidates are accepted (local rate applies for local candidates)
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
  • Former staff members must have a 5-year gap in employment before returning as a traveler

Responsibilities

  • Patient assessment and treatment planning
  • Body mechanics training
  • Development of home exercise programs
  • Focus on orthopedic conditions (e.g., low back pain, cervicalgia, post-op spinal and joint surgeries) and neurologic conditions (e.g., Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury)
  • Patient and family education throughout the rehabilitation process

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of physical therapy experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • State PT licensure required at time of submission; no pending licenses accepted
  • Experience across acute care, outpatient clinic, rehabilitation hospital, and skilled nursing facility settings preferred
  • Skilled in orthopedic and neurologic patient assessment and treatment
  • Proficient in home exercise program development and patient/family education
  • Two supervisory references required
  • Copy of certifications required for consideration

  • Start Date: August 24, 2026
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 8 hours, days (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
  • RTO requests should be minimized, especially avoiding time off in the first two weeks or full weeks off, and must be approved prior to assignment start
