About the role
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an Acute Care Hospital setting in Lubbock, Texas. This is a 13-week travel assignment starting 08/24/2026, with 40 hours per week on a day shift (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM).
Responsibilities
- Patient assessment, evaluation, and discharge planning within an acute care setting
- Work in a Short Term Acute Care hospital with 379 staffed beds and Level II Trauma Center designation
- Maintain a 1:1 patient ratio
- Participate in weekend rotation alongside full-time therapy staff
- Commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of acute care physical therapy experience required
- BLS certification required
- Compact state license must be in hand at time of submission (if applicable)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Full SSN and DOB required for submission
- Local candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
Preferred Skills
- Experience with orthopedic conditions including post-op spinal, shoulder, and cervical surgeries, total hip/knee replacements, and hip fractures
- Experience with neurologic conditions including stroke rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and cognitive disorders
- Skilled in gait training, body mechanics, home exercise programs, and patient/family education
- Experience with equipment including gait belts, sliding boards, hospital/specialty beds, bed alarms, and call lights
- Outpatient clinic, rehabilitation hospital, and skilled nursing facility experience
