Travel Progressive Care Unit RN - $1,885 per week

About the role

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in a 24‑bed intermediate care environment with interdisciplinary support services including physical therapy, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services. The unit manages intermediate medical and surgical overflow, focusing on throughput from emergency and operating rooms, handling post‑surgical, diabetic teaching, wound care, and other patient conditions. The ideal candidate will be adaptable to variable patient ratios and capable of responding to emergent situations.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient conditions such as post‑surgical care, diabetic teaching, wound care, and other intermediate medical/surgical overflow.
• Focus on throughput from emergency and operating rooms.
• Adapt to variable patient ratios.
• Respond to emergent situations.
• Perform regular floating within scope across departments, units, and facilities as needed.
• Work holiday shifts and up to 8 weekend shifts during a 6‑week schedule period.

Requirements

• Valid BLS and NIHSS certifications.
• 1 to 2 years of telemetry experience.
• Certified in cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management.
• Proficient in advanced IV therapies including insulin protocols, central line care, and blood product administration.
• Experienced in wound care and infection control precautions.
• Valid license or pending license accepted.
• Must hold Kansas and Missouri licenses or a compact license; no local candidates within 75 miles accepted.

Qualifications

• Preferred: Experience in endocrine/metabolic titration of insulin drips.
• Preferred: Renal failure management.
• Preferred: Orthopedics including trauma and total joint replacements.
• Preferred: Surgical drains and tracheostomy management.
• Preferred: Prior experience with eye surgeries.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
