Job Summary

The Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (RN) position in Wichita, Kansas involves providing patient care in a pre-operative unit, supporting surgical procedures, and ensuring a high level of patient experience.

Job Details

• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1-year current acute care Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (RN) hospital experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Some pre-op experience
• Able to assist pre-op staff
• Prior Meditech EMR experience

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 9 Pre-op beds, 5 Phase 2 recovery beds
• Staffing: 8 full-time RNs (including 2 open positions), 2 part-time RNs, 4 PRN RNs, 1 unit HUC
• Patient Ratios: 1:3
• Equipment: Pyxis, GE MACVU EKG machine, Doppler, patient scale, bladder scanner

Policies

• On-call required with 30-minute response time
• 2 on-call shifts of 10 hours every 8 weeks

Additional Information

• Work involves performing procedures such as pre-op surgery, endoscopy, catheterization, electrophysiology studies, outpatient infusions, outpatient EKGs, nerve blocks, and blood transfusions
• The unit emphasizes patient experience, effective communication with staff and providers, and utilizes advanced technology to support clinical outcomes

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
