Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for patients up to 25 years old, including epilepsy monitoring.
- Work at least every other holiday as required by the facility.
- Demonstrate proficiency in EKG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate assessments during orientation.
Requirements
- 18 months of permanent experience in PICU prior to travel assignments.
- 18 months of recent pediatric experience.
- Active permanent Ohio license or compact state license in hand at time of submission.
- Active AHA or American Red Cross BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; NIHSS certification preferred.
- Experience with EKGs and inotropes.
- One reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty from the past 12 months (no co-worker references).
- Nicotine-free (except temporary exemption for Nurses and CSTs); negative 10 Panel + Nicotine (Cotinine) drug screen required within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- BCI/FBI fingerprints must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
- Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months; a 6-month break is required before returning unless approved by the client.
Testing and Assessments
- PBDS Assessment is waived.
- Must pass ECG rhythm recognition test and safeMedicate with two attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation.
