About the Role

Sentara Therapy Center - Coliseum in Hampton, VA is hiring a Travel Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) for a 14-week assignment in an outpatient setting. This is a temporary, full-time position with a day shift schedule, offering 40 hours per week at $43.00 per hour.

As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will administer physical therapy treatments and procedures under the supervision of a physical therapist. You may assist in developing treatment plans, carrying out routine functions, and documenting treatment progress within the scope of established plans. Responsibilities include performing modalities and therapeutic interventions according to accepted standards of care and department policies, as well as participating in updates to the formal plan of care to address individual patient needs.

Sentara Therapy Center - Coliseum specializes in addressing the fitness needs of diverse populations, including the physically limited, elderly, and those in chronic pain. The team consists of licensed physical therapists and certified athletic trainers who are CPR-certified and trained in the latest treatment techniques. Staff members are also involved in community education initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Administer physical therapy treatments and procedures under the supervision of a physical therapist.
  • Assist in developing treatment plans and documenting treatment progress.
  • Perform modalities and therapeutic interventions according to accepted standards of care and department policies.
  • Participate in updating the formal plan of care to address individual patient needs.
  • Provide effective instruction to patients and families through standardized educational programs and individualized training.
  • Initiate and maintain collaborative interactions with internal and external team members, patients, and families to improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain productivity and efficiency in daily operations.

Requirements

  • Valid Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of Virginia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (required).
  • Previous physical therapy assistant experience (preferred).
