Travel Physical Therapist - Acute Care Hospital - $2,291 per week

American Traveler is seeking a travel Physical Therapist for an assignment in Orange, California.

About the role

This is an Acute Care Inpatient Physical Therapy position within a Magnet-designated, Stroke Certified Center. The facility has an ortho-heavy caseload with no wound care required. The role involves a daily caseload of approximately 10 patients with a 1:10 patient ratio.

• Day shift schedule: 4x10 hours (8:00 AM to 6:30 PM)
• Minimum of 2 weekend shifts per month required
• Uses Epic for charting
• Free parking available on-site
• First-time travelers and local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
• Travelers may be expected to float between facilities within the state as needed

Responsibilities

• Patient assessment, evaluation, treatment planning, and discharge documentation for acute care inpatients
• Utilize adaptive and assistive devices including gait belts, walkers, Hoyer lifts, and specialty beds
• Provide patient and family education, home exercise programs, and safety/injury prevention training

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of recent Physical Therapy experience
• Active PT license (must be in hand at time of submission)
• BLS certification required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with orthopedic conditions including joint replacements, fractures, and spinal conditions
• Experience with neurologic conditions including stroke rehabilitation and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with cardiopulmonary conditions such as COPD and CHF preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year within the last 3 years required
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays

• RTO requests must be submitted at time of application; excessive time off may delay the offer process
• Returning staff may be eligible after a 3-month waiting period, subject to facility rules

Schedule

• 13-week assignment starting September 15, 2026
• 40 hours per week, 10-hour day shifts (4x10 hours)
