Travel Physical Therapist - $3,300 per week

About the role

Provides full-time, quality outpatient and inpatient physical therapy care. Treats all patient age ranges and diagnoses within the State of Alaska’s physical therapy scope of practice. Incorporates evidenced-based medicine into patient plans of care. Exemplifies professional conduct, patient care ethics and respect for cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Modifies patient care plans appropriately, using age specific and patient specific considerations. Supports the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation’s mission statement.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outpatient and inpatient physical therapy services
• Develop and implement evidence-based patient care plans
• Adapt care plans for age-specific and culturally diverse needs
• Document patient care and medical correspondence accurately
• Communicate effectively with medical staff, peers, and administrative personnel
• Operate standard physical therapy equipment (hi-lo table, whirlpool, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, electric stimulation modalities, etc.)
• Travel to village-based assignments with portable therapy tools (theraband, exercise programs, etc.)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program
• Alaska Physical Therapist license in good standing, or FSBPT paperwork completed to work as a Student Physical Therapist post-graduation while preparing for licensure exam
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physical therapy periodicals and medical literature
• Proficiency in basic MS Office programs, email, and internet research
• Strong mathematical skills (basic arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and graph interpretation)
• Problem-solving ability in situations with limited standardization
• Effective communication with non-English speakers and diverse cultural groups

Work Environment

• Hospital-based: Standard Physical Therapy Department with hi-lo tables, whirlpools, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, and electric stimulation modalities
• Village-based: Typically provides a treatment table; therapists bring portable equipment (theraband, exercise programs, etc.)

Pay

Pay package based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
