Travel assignment for a Physical Therapist in Dunedin, Florida.

About the role

This is a travel position in home health care. Locals are accepted at the same rate.

Schedule

  • Start Date: 08/10/2026
  • Duration: 20 weeks
  • 40 hours per week
  • 9-hour day shifts
  • Every 3rd weekend required
  • Visits and hours are self-scheduled based on the needs of the HomeCare office

Responsibilities

  • Conduct 6–8 home skilled visits per day (minimum of 6 points per day at manager’s discretion, may increase by 1 point)
  • Assess and treat patients with cardiopulmonary, geriatric, neurological, orthopedic, and oncology conditions
  • Perform patient assessments, develop home exercise programs, and educate patients and families
  • Document care using BayCare Forms, BayCare Scheduling, and Ace Timesheet systems
  • Identify signs and symptoms of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse and ensure safety and injury prevention
  • Use and instruct on adaptive and assistive devices (e.g., crutches, gait belts, walkers, sliding boards, specialty beds, supplemental oxygen delivery)
  • Manage medications, monitor vital signs, and assess skin integrity
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and use personal car for home visits

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist
  • Home health experience required; OASIS training preferred
  • BLS certification
  • Active state license (Florida license or compact license required at time of submission)
  • Must live at least 100 miles from the facility (BayCare 100-mile radius rule)
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Flu shot or declination required; mask wearing mandatory at all times while at work
  • Completion of compliance documents due 10 days before start date
  • Pass/fail EKG exam (3 attempts allowed)
  • Pre-start and annual modules (billable up to 4 hours for Allied professionals)

  • Cardiopulmonary and circulatory care (COPD, CHF, CABG, MI, PVD, emphysema)
  • Neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation (stroke, Parkinson’s, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, degenerative disc/joint disease, amputations, post-op care)
  • Geriatric and oncology care
  • Gait training, strength testing, and pain assessment
  • Use of adaptive devices (crutches, gait belts, walkers, sliding boards, shoulder slings, soft/hard collars, hospital beds, Hoyer lifts, sit-to-stand lifts, specialty beds)
  • Home exercise program development and patient/family education
  • Safety and injury prevention, including abuse recognition
  • Time management and documentation
  • Cognitive disorder and dementia/Alzheimer’s care
  • Prosthetic training and sensory response assessment
  • Cerner charting experience preferred

Unit Details

  • Patient population: adults and geriatrics with cardiopulmonary, neurological, orthopedic, and oncology diagnoses
  • Daily census: 6 patients
  • 6–8 visits per day (minimum 6 points)
  • Equipment provided: laptop, MiFi for internet access, portable printers
  • Orientation: 16 hours
  • Smoke-free facility
