Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Physical Therapist to evaluate, plan, implement, and supervise physical therapy treatment programs in an acute care setting. The Physical Therapist will provide evidence-based care in accordance with physician referrals, state and national practice standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental policies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical competence, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams while delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations to determine functional abilities, limitations, and rehabilitation needs.
  • Develop individualized plans of care with measurable, patient-centered goals.
  • Prioritize key clinical factors impacting patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with patients and caregivers when establishing treatment goals.
  • Initiate discharge planning and recommend modifications to treatment orders as appropriate.
  • Treat patients with various physical, social, cultural, educational, and age-related needs.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Engage patients and families in care planning and decision-making.
  • Provide education to patients, caregivers, physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Document all treatments and patient progress thoroughly and timely in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate records reflecting patient progress, skilled interventions, and ongoing assessments.
  • Reassess and update treatment goals according to department policies.
  • Communicate treatment outcomes and patient progress clearly and promptly with healthcare team members.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Advocate for treatment plans using evidence-based practices and current clinical standards.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks appropriately to Physical Therapist Assistants, Therapy Technicians, athletic trainers, students, and other support personnel when applicable.
  • Support departmental initiatives, quality improvement projects, and productivity goals.
  • Attend required meetings and stay informed of departmental updates.
  • Adapt to changing caseloads, schedules, and staffing needs.
  • Absorb and assist in other patient care areas as needed to support quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an APTA-accredited Physical Therapy program (or equivalent).
  • Current Physical Therapist license in the state of practice.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of Physical Therapy experience.
  • Previous travel assignment experience required.
  • Prior acute care hospital experience required.
  • Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and healthcare software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience treating patients across multiple acute care specialties.
  • Additional related education and/or clinical experience.
  • Experience working in large hospital environments and fast-paced healthcare settings.
