About the role
MedPro Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. This role involves caring for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment, but who are not unstable enough for ICU care.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess patients who aren't unstable enough to need ICU care.
- Utilize computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital signs.
- Detect changes in patient condition, enabling intervention in life-threatening or emergency situations.
- Administer complex medications, including titration based on patient vital signs.
The PCU nurse is also referred to as a step-down nurse, and the unit may be known as cardiac step-down, medical step-down, neuro step-down, surgical step-down, or ER holding.
Requirements
- Active RN license.
- Degree from an accredited nursing program.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Eighteen months of recent experience in an Acute Care PCU/Step-down setting.
- Additional requirements may be determined by the client facility.
