Skills Required Registered Nurses must possess the following skills: Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration experience preferred Cardiac rhythm interpretation IV starts Blood product administration CIWA, drain/tube management Indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management Insulin drips (both DKA and non-DKA) Continuous bladder irrigation, chest tube maintenance Effective verbal and written communication Thorough physical assessments Strong clinical judgement and professional bedside manner Strong team player with a positive attitude and adaptability Support on the Unit CNA: Ratio 1:8 (Both Days & Nights) Charge Nurse: Yes, 2 for the unit (free-floating), available 24/7 Phlebotomy available: 24/7 for peripheral blood draws only; RN will manage Central lines Resource Nurse: Yes, Flex RN as staffing allows Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7 Hospitalist: In-house, available 24/7 Centralized Tele Monitoring: 24/7 service for Tele reading and alarm notifications Violent Incident Response Team Charting System/Equipment Epic (preferred) Baxter IV pumps Omnicell Orientation 2 days of in-class/online education 2 shifts with a preceptor (12 hours each) Scheduling Weekend rotation: Every other or 50% weekends over a 4-week schedule. All travelers must attend huddles prior to shift start at specified times. Holiday Expectation: Every other holiday minimum during contracted timeframe. Approval of time off: Up to 7 days.
