Travel PCU RN - $1,655 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Winston Salem, North Carolina. The assignment is 13 weeks long, with 36 hours per week worked in 12‑hour day shifts. As a PCU travel nurse you will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but do not need ICU level care, utilizing cardiac and other vital monitoring equipment, administering medications, and performing a variety of clinical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care and stabilize critical cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report any adverse reactions.
• Monitor and adjust specialized patient equipment; interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action when monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.

Requirements

• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.
• Additional certifications may be required before starting the assignment.

Skills

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Capable of lifting 20 pounds routinely; patient moving/lifting may require up to 50 pounds.
• Good stress‑coping skills and ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.
