About the role

The organization is seeking a Pathology Assistant to work in the anatomic pathology gross room, supporting the grossing of tissue specimens across one of three gross room locations (Main Ruby, Children's, or Innovation Corp). The role involves handling a high volume of cases with varying complexity on a rotating shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Gross tissue specimens in the anatomic pathology gross room
• Handle frozen sections
• Utilize tools including cryostats, bone saws, scalpels, and knives
• Work at one of three gross room locations: Main Ruby, Children's, or Innovation Corp

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
• 1 year of experience in the specialty
• Ability to gross simple and complex tissue specimens
• Experience with Epic Beaker Anatomic Pathology (AP)
• Experience with voice recognition programs
• Valid license (must be submitted)

Schedule

• Dayshift with start times between 07:30 and 09:00
• 12‑hour shifts
• Minimum 36 hours per week
• No call, standby, holiday, or weekend requirements

Additional information

• Training provided by current Pathologists' Assistants
• Department volume: average 160 cases and 700 blocks daily
• Case mix: approximately 60% small cases, 20% biopsies/moderate, 20% complex

Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• Certified Pathologist's Assistant (PA) via ASCP (required)
