About the Role

Travel nursing contract (13 weeks) in Nampa, ID. Shift: 5x8hr days, 40 hrs weekly. Preop Ratios 1:3, Phase 1 Ratios 1:2, Phase 2 Ratios 1:1-3. Requires 2 years of experience and certifications: BLS, ACLS & PALS.

Unit Details

  • Shared position with Surgical and Endoscopy Pre-op and Recovery (pre/post experience required; endo procedure experience not required but willingness to support all areas daily is necessary).
  • 18 beds: 13 General OR & 5 Endo (Preop & PACU - Phase 1 & 2).
  • Staff must be flexible and able to transition between all phases; rotation between areas expected.
  • Common cases: General, Breast, Ortho, Urology, & OBGYN.
  • Small unit; staff assist in restocking and turnover between patients.
  • 2 Aides in Preop (duties include EKGs, blood draws, blood sugars, transfers, pregnancy tests, vitals, bladder scanning).
  • No RT on unit; anesthesia oversees the area.
  • ICU patients recover in PACU occasionally (about once per month).
  • RNs must be able to read and identify rhythm changes and life-threatening rhythms.
  • EMR: Epic.
  • Charge nurse manages unit flow and does not take an assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for surgery.
  • Recover patients post-anesthesia, manage airways, and pain management.

Requirements

  • Must have Preop & PACU experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience (first-time travelers accepted).
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
