About the Role

American Traveler is hiring an Outpatient Occupational Therapist with 5+ years of hand therapy experience for a specialized hand clinic setting in Berkeley, California. This is a 13-week travel assignment starting September 14, 2026, with a 40-hour workweek on a day shift schedule (5x8-hour shifts from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM).

You will work within an outpatient hand clinic, treating a patient population ranging from pre-teens to geriatric individuals with a 1:1 patient ratio. The Epic charting system is used for documentation.

Local candidates may be accepted at the local rate, but candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for the travel rate. Maximum requested time off (RTO) is 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract. Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Returning travelers must have a separation period of at least 1 year to be eligible to return. First-time travelers may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, evaluate, develop plans of care, perform reassessments, and plan discharges
  • Treat a wide range of orthopedic upper extremity conditions, including hand injuries, nerve injuries, reattachments, and tendon repairs
  • Perform splint fabrication, including dynamic, functional, static, and serial/inhibitory splints using Orthoplast
  • Utilize modalities and manual therapy skills such as electrical stimulation, iontophoresis, kinesiotaping, lymphedema management, myofascial release, TENS, and ultrasound
  • Provide patient and family education, including home exercise programs and safety/injury prevention

Requirements

  • Current BLS certification
  • CA OT license (if applicable)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an outpatient hand therapy setting
  • Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) preferred but not required
  • Expertise in splint fabrication for post-operative, acute, and chronic conditions
  • Experience treating orthopedic upper extremity diagnoses, including post-operative conditions, acute injuries, workers' compensation cases, and chronic disorders
  • Epic EMR experience required
